Eaton House Belgravia

Meet the Head

Mr Huw May

Mr Huw May plans to continue in the strong academic tradition of Eaton House Belgravia, tailoring both Preparatory and Pre-Preparatory teaching specifically to the learning styles of boys. An experienced Headmaster, Mr May has taken on six headships in total, including Head of Girls at Sydenham High, Head of Roedean Junior School, Head of St Mary’s Hall Junior School and Head of Eaton House The Manor Pre-Prep School.

The success of Eaton House Belgravia has long been proven by the 7+ and 8+ results gained by boys with the support of our experienced and committed staff. In 2017, the majority of our pupils gained offers and went on to study at Westminster Under, St Paul’s Junior School, Westminster Cathedral Choir School, King’s College Junior School, Sussex House, Dulwich College Junior School and Wetherby Prep School.

There will always be a cohort of boys who choose to sit the 7+ and 8+ exams, as has traditionally been the case at Eaton House Belgravia Pre-Prep. All the boys who sit those exams will benefit from a strong focus by Mr May. In the lead-up to these exams, he has implemented personalised learning plans and ‘progress to date’ reports for parents every two weeks. Boys will have opportunities to understand the context and practical application of their work in dynamic, interactive teaching environments.

Those who decide to stay on until 13+ and join Eaton House Belgravia Prep school will benefit from Mr May’s thorough knowledge of their character and academic ability, along with his extensive connections with senior schools.

“We need all Eaton House Belgravia boys to discover a love of learning early. We will achieve this by igniting the spark of their interest and prompting them to think about what they are learning in a wider context,” says Mr May.
